Clubs Update

April 9th, 2010 | By admin

On Wednesday 7th of April the first UWS Goon Council (executive of The Goonion/Wine Appreciation Society at Bankstown) was elected. Congratulations to Chief Goon (Roschelle Batt), Mini Goon (Rick Garside), Sodden Scribbler (Adriana Lindsay), Passion Pop Princess (Fatima Serhan), Stubby Holder (Dylan Allan) and Giblets James Matbey and Benjamin Hollis.

At Parramatta campus the Chess Club held the remaining matches for their second knockout tournament (second round for first tournament at Campbelltown was on yesterday) and the brand new Mah-Jong Society also enjoyed some games in the sun.

Last Thursday the Afghan Students Society held a free Afghan feast and Campus Bible Ministries had a free BBQ, open to all students at Parramatta Campus. Both events were supported by the Hive.

Lots of new clubs are starting up at UWS with regular activities at all campuses. For example at Penrith the Geek Group, MAFIA (Music & Film) and JAUWS (Anime) all hold regular social events & film screenings.

Clubs that affiliate to the Hive before 13th May (see info on our Clubs page for affiliation requirements) will be eligible to apply for a share of $5000 in start-up funding for approved activities/items as well as additional funding throughout the year. Contact Heidi h.hodder@uws.edu.au if you want to start up a new club.
