April 22nd, 2010 | By admin
In the last two weeks more clubs have started up at uni – UWS Dance Club, UWS Project Futures (Gen Y Campaign against Sex Trafficking), UWS Libs & Bush Care Groups at Penrith & Hawkesbury.
You might get to see UWS dancers perform first week back of Spring Semester during our mini O’Week celebrations!! Also early in Spring Semester, the Hive will be putting on an International Film Festival at all campuses in conjunction with UWS Engagement so get in contact if you have a film to recommend or would like to get involved.
If you are at Parramatta Campus, come along to the free BBQ on 4 May outside the Library where I Heart UWS will be launching the intervarsity I Heart Uni magazine. For more social & career events run by UWS clubs both on & off campus check out our clubs calendar or follow the links on the individual clubs’ pages.
The Activities Support Committee will be having its first meeting at the end of May. This is the official forum for shaping policy around non-sporting clubs, societies & collectives at UWS. If you want to make UWS a more exciting place to be then come along. Nominations are currently open to club executive members for voting positions but all club reps are encouraged to attend.
Contact Heidi on 9685 9537 or h.hodder@uws.edu.au if you would like more info on the Activities Support Committee or are interested in starting up a club. And don’t forget to vote in the Hive elections next week!!!
Uni and school holidays don’t match – parents angry
April 13th, 2010 | By President
Jacob Carswell-Doherty – President
Lots of parents are angry that the mid-semester break does not coincide with normal school holidays. Currently, many parents are forced to bring their children onto campus (don’t mentiont he childcare problems) for two weeks, only to then have an entire week off to spend time with their children a week later, once the kids are back at school.
Surely it would be logical to have the mid semester break a week earlier so it links up with the last week of school holidays?
We also need free childcare for parents during school holidays!
